Teddy's Coattail Journey is Complete

Teddy Kennedy would have a been a joke or punchline in his own right, but John F. Kennedy war (gasp) hero and somewhat decent guy for a democrat was beloved by this country.  To a (very slightly) lesser degree, so was Robert Kennedy.

But Teddy was nothing without the deaths of his brothers.

He was reelected over and over because of his family name and the memory of his poor brothers, cut short from this country by assassins.  He was ineffective, a womanizer, a drunk.

Normally, he would have been a Roger Clinton or Billy Carter -- relegated to the sidelines of American history.

But he had the untimely deaths of three brothers (and a date) to pave his way to liberal stardom.

He rode the coattails of his brothers into the political spotlight.

The ride is complete, as he has now has gone as far as they have gone.  Into the grave.

May Camelot fade into memory.

Open Primer to our 435 "Representatives"

It appears that all of Congress, but mostly our beloved bi-annually reset House of Representatives, have forgotten the true nature of their job.  Instead they have fallen victim to "tradition" of thinking they are our country's rulers.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The House is not made up of leaders but representatives.  You are not charged with surveying the horizon and like a parent choosing the best course for us.  Your sole mission is to represent OUR views to the House, not represent to us what the House is doing...to us.

Your constituents are all the people in your district, not just those of your party.  Republican, democrat, independent, conservative, liberal, socialist, whatever.  You took on the job of listening to all voices in your district and weighing those opinions and representing the majority view to the House as a whole.

And on that note, you represent ONLY your district.  That's your primary goal and the sole source of your employment.  Your district is the reason you are in that office.  Your district is the reason you will leave that office.  The goals of the party, state, or other districts all take a VERY distant backseat to the desires of the constituents you are paid to represent.

No matter how much face-time you get on CNN, Fox, and the networks, you're not a rockstar.  You should be humbled under the crushing weight of the responsibility you've been charged with.  And that charge is not any single issue.  That charge is to (I repeat) represent the views of your district to the House.

The House of Representatives is called "The People's House" for a reason.  Senators are to represent the total interests of the state -- which is why they were appointed originally.  But Representives serve soley to weigh the views of their constituents and cast their votes accordingly.  This is not to say that you are not allowed a conscience and vote how you feel is best.  But if your conscience goes against the desires of your constituents, you should be prepared to face the consequences.  In many cases, you can disobey your employer in ignorance and receive forgiveness.  But when your employer has expressly forbidden you to do something and you do it anyway, don't expect a second chance.

It appears the majority (based on polls and town hall meetings) are against government intrusion into health insurance.  Many want the real problems of the health care system fixed.  Among these are tort reform, state boundary restrictions, and adjusting the tax system to reward doctors who provide care for the indigent.  But you don't fix a problem for barely 5% of the country's population by destroying a system that works for 95%.

The current congressional attitude of "be quiet and take your medicine" just isn't going to cut it anymore.

As several analysts have pointed out, government intrusion into the health care industry will "fundamentally change the relationship citizens have with their government".  Instead of the designed "hands off" approach, the government will now have inserted their influence in our everyday lives in an everpresent, overbearing and completely unwelcome way.  If ObamaCare in any form passes we will have to be blessed with the permission of the government to take care of personal and private health decisions.  This is not right.  This is not necessary.

All 435 of you have been put on notice by the voices expressed by those you claim to represent.  If you fail to do as your employer tells you to do, then you have chosen to face the consequences.  If any "Health Care System Destruction Act" -- especially one with a "government option" -- comes to a vote, I encourage all media outlets to mark each representative with their vote everytime they are displayed on-screen.  Brand each person who voted for so-called ObamaCare with a "Scarlet Letter" H next to the "D" or "R" we traditionally see.

Whether the bill ultimately is defeated, let your failure to represent follow you to the next election.

100% of Americans (and illegals) already have health care coverage...

Break a leg, get a virus, have a medical emergency -- EVERYONE in this country is already covered.  Just show up at a hospital and you will get care.  You may owe a bill on it, but you will get treated.  Health insurance, like other insurance, is to help offset the cost of a major emergency or crisis: fire, auto, homeowner's, accidental death, etc.

INSURANCE IS A LUXURY, NOT A RIGHT.

I've paid homeowner's insurance for 16 years and never made a claim, until last week.  We're getting a new roof due to wind and hail damage.  Had we not been paying $650 per year for our insurance, we'd be out of pocket $7,100 for the roof.  As it stands now, we're only paying about $1000.  I've paid $10,400 in premiums over 16 years. and am receiving $6,100 from it.

Now, the lender requires me to have it and that's fine... but I could have survived without it and been $4k ahead of the game... but you're paying for the peace of mind.  Because the claims could be so much bigger.

But it's still a luxury, not a right.

Health "insurance" is the same way.  Or should be.

Most municipalities even offer low-cost maintenance services -- checkups, immunizations, etc. at health departments, etc.  If poor people can afford cell phones, beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets, they can certainly swing $10 for a booster shot.  But some think they are too good for the public health service -- like Ray Nagin and the school buses -- they aren't going to demean themselves.  Pride goeth before the fall.

America is a land of opportunity if you set aside your pride, humble yourself and accept the chances offered.  But it's not just the socio-economic "poor" who are the problem.  The fiscally poor college students and newlyweds who think they deserve a house and all the coveniences of mom and dad's (or mom's or dad's) home right away.  "But we have to have... (two cars, four bedrooms, cable, internet, cellphones, dreaded texting, etc...)".

It used to be that people accepted their circumstances, worked within them to better themselves and get out of their situation.  Your job doesn't pay enough?  Get another one.  No skills?  Get them.  Working part-time?  You didn't expect full-time benefits.  For you gamers out there, they earned each new "level" in their life experience.

Now everyone wants to use cheat codes.

So back to health care the "reforms" President Obama is promoting...  As I said, everyone right now HAS health care access.  100%.  But due to the lawsuits the number of doctors is dwindling -- some areas have no local provider.  And with the ObamaCare plan, that number is going to get even smaller as medicine no longer becomes the rewarding occupation (both financially and emotionally) that is used to be and currently is.  Fewer people with a genuine interest will become medical professionals.  Those who already are and can will retire.

Under ObamaCare, our next generation of doctors (now a government job subject to goverment pay grades, perks, and job security) will come from the same pool of people that work in the DMV, deliver our mail, and monitor the scanners at our airports.

In fact, to save money, perhaps Obama should require that the TSA perform X-ray lab services for doctors -- just queue up at the airport, lie down on the belt, and convey right through.

The lines at the airport might even be shorter than the lines at an ObamaCare doctor's office.

Why does Obama hate America?

The same could be said for most liberals... They think they love America and they think they are being patriotic... I don't doubt most of them WANT to do what is right, but they fail to realize that what they are doing is anti-American.

So why does Obama hate America?  The America established by the Founding Fathers.  The America that has become so great, but may have already peaked due to the downturn of morality, family, and social values.

Obama (and liberals) view the Constitution as a living breathing document, that should ebb and flow with the whims of society...  but as we've seen with Roe. vs. Wade and other bad unconstitutional decisions and laws -- they want America to bend with the ebb, but never return with the flow.

Is it too late?

Has the great country our Founding Fathers created by the grace of Almighty God been reduced to good, fair, poor -- or evil like liberals try to paint us.  Is it too late to reclaim this country and restore it as it was intended: states sovereign, less federal governent, promotion of general well being of citizens and protection of true rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Why does Obama hate America?  Is it because he is not an American -- in reality as some claim or in heart as he appears to be.

Why does Obama seek to destroy something so good instead of just creating their own?

So why does Obama hate America?

Why?

Why?

WHY!?
